Apparently brides started to carry bouquets to cover odours…

In the 15th Century, people would bath  were rarely…….once a year! They would take their yearly bath in May and weddings were generally in June. So brides, just to be ‘one the safe side” would have bouquets of flowers for the very purpose to mask the smell of the body odour. As a matter of fact, bouquets were made of flowers and spices.

Another tradition talks about having bouquets (made of flowers and garlic) to ward of evil spirits.

Which of the two traditions you believe?
